ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION

Representing Fiji's taxi industry since 1948.

Founded in 1948, the Fiji Taxi Association has served the industry for 78 years. It is the national representative body for taxi owners and operators, while also advancing the interests and welfare of the drivers who keep Fiji moving.

The Association engages with Government, FCCC, LTA and other stakeholders on laws, policies and operational issues. It develops practical proposals, protects members’ rights, promotes stronger industry management and works towards fair, safe and sustainable taxi services.

ACROSS FIJI

A national network with local voices.

FTA branches connect taxi owners and operators across towns and islands, bringing local experience into the Association’s national work.

05

06

Build partnerships

TAXI FARE SUBMISSION

2011 fares cannot sustain a 2026 service.

Fuel is only one cost. Tyres, batteries, oil, repairs, insurance, finance and replacement vehicles have all become more expensive. Operators also lose income while waiting for passengers and travelling empty.

When revenue stays fixed while every input costs more, operators keep less. What remains also buys less because of inflation. Real income has fallen from both directions.

THE FAIR-FARE PLAN
A permanent distance rate of FJD $1.50 per kilometre
Keep the current $1.40 rate until a permanent decision is made
Assess the full cost of operations
Recognise waiting time and empty return journeys
Avoid repeated meter-reconfiguration costs
Create a stable, transparent fare review mechanism
FTA'S IMMEDIATE REQUEST

No reduction before the full review is complete.

KEEP $1.40
